A beauty unsurpassed.

"The beach was la playa mejor en todo del mundo (the best beach in all the world), la agua fue muy pura y con el calor del sol muy tranquila. It was love at first sight the moment the plane flew over the ocean; I knew that I had to touch it's beauty. Before venturing to the beach, a woman by the name of Rosa spoke to my group and me about the history of El Salvador prior to the conquisadores who came to conqure and develop. They stripped the people of their culture, religion, and pride. Many of the religious temples were destroyed and the lands, along with the women, were raped."

Papaturro.

"Papaturro is a wonderful campo near Suchitoto, many people here are very close with the land and cultivate it while maintaining livestock such as oxen, chickens, cows, turkeys, and goats....
Lastnight a man told his story of how when he was 12 he decided to become a guerrilla solider in the war and at the age of 21 he lost all of his sight from a bomb explosion. While he was rehabilitating in Cuba, he learned how to play the guitar. That night, he played many songs that were inspired from war, peace, and solidarity."

These are excepts from a journal that I kept during my trip to El Salvador in 2008, It was very difficult to write in English when my brain was constantly trying to think in Spanish but I love how sometimes Spanish words convey more than their English translations.
I miss the people, food, culture, and beautiful sights.
"...fue un viaje lleno del oro: it was a trip full of gold."
